Chelsea raises a further $500 million for its development

According to the Financial Times, the English club has raised $500 million from the investment fund Ares to finance a number of major projects, including:

the development of its training centre, improving the capacity of its training facilities, which it considers to be limited, renovating Stamford Bridge and even building a new stadium.

Immersed in a multi-club strategy, the West London club has already acquired RC Strasbourg in June and intends to pursue this strategy.

Chelsea's owners - a consortium led by American businessman Todd Boehly and including the Clearlake Capital group - have therefore enlisted the help of Ares.

The American company, which currently has some $378 billion in assets under management, is already active in sport through investments in Eagle Football, the holding company that owns Olympique Lyonnais, and Atlético Madrid.

As a reminder, the purchase of Chelsea is estimated to be worth 5 billion euros, the biggest sale of a club in the history of football. Since then, the new owners have spent hundreds of millions of euros to build a competitive team, but so far they have not been very successful, with Pochettino's team languishing in 14th place in the Premier League.
